My dog just had puppies...?

We had a appointment with the vet to get her checked out while pregnant, but they came early... The dogs don't look premature, though. They have fur, etc. I called the vet and he said just come in for the appointment to get her checked out. However, I heard online that you are supposed to get her checked within 24 hours after whelping, but the appointment is in a few days. I should just follow his instructions and go in then? Thanks!!!!

Congratulations on the puppies! Dogs can give birth up to a week early without any ill effects to the puppies. It sounds like all went well. You don't have to go in within 24 hours. Just make sure to go in within a couple days of their birth. Severe medical problems in newborn puppies usually cannot be corrected anyway.

Im sure your vet know what he's doing. as long as the puupies and the mother look okay just follow his instruction.

Your vet went to vet school which is VERY hard, so I'm sure he knows what he is talking about.
