type 1 diabetes question?
I actually have two questions about this serious topic:
1. I have seen many people in my life including my cute, lovable cousin suffering from this disease. Having many people around me with diabetes really got me interested in becoming a doctor for children with type 1 diabetes so my question is; is there a scientific or specific name for that career???
2. two of the people that I know that have type 1 had to be hospitalized for a week and that is when they found out they had it. My second question is: what did they do to them during this week? I know that they got into some kind of coma because bloodsugar was too high or low and therefore needed treatment and adjustments but what else? I m sure they didnt just treat them for a whole week... I want to learn more from a doctor's point of view....
Thanx

Endocrinology is the study of the body's chemistry and hormones. And an Endocrinologist is typically the doctor a person with diabetes will visit.
Fortunately, my husband's Type 1 diagnosis was made without him being in DKA (and thus not needing hospitalization). DKA is diabetic ketoacidosis and results when a person's sugars are very high. Their body begins to burn fat as a fuel source, releasing ketones into the blood- which are acidic. It can be deadly. Time is required to stabilize a person's sugars and ketone levels, so that may be part of the hospital stay. However, learning how to then manage diabetes on your own at home requires education- which they either receive there at the hospital or during a follow up visit shortly after. I have mostly heard of a stay of 2-3 days, some require more time. But for a parent having to learn how to care for their child all over again- they need the time, education, and training necessary to keep their child alive at home.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

1. A "diabetes doctor" is called an endocrinologist.
2. Diabetics are usually hospitalized for 2+ days after diagnosis to get their blood sugars controlled, to learn more about the disease, and to start managing it with the nurses and doctors supervision.
