My ketone levels don't make sense. What's going on?

I'm on a low carb/high fat diet and am trying to be in nutritional ketosis. I had my ketone levels measured at the end of November and was at 0.6 mmol/L.

On Christmas Day I received a ketone blood meter as a gift. I also decided on that day to eat some carbs and sweet desserts as it was Christmas.

The day after Christmas I measured my ketones and was at 0.2 mmol/L. I thought this was to be expected as I had eaten some carbs the day before.

However, for the last five days I have been very good at what I've eaten and thought I'd be back to at least the 0.6 level, but when I measured myself I was still at 0.2 mmol/L.

Can anyone help me to understand what's going on?

    your body wont go into ketosis untill all its glycogen reserves are gone. when you started eating carbs again your body was able to replenish the glycogen reserves stored in the liver and is probably still using them now to keep you out of ketosis. It can sometimes take up to a week to get into ketosis depending on how strict you are being on your diet and how much glycogen you have stored. But as long as you are consistent and cut back the carbs, its only a matter of time before it happens.

    Previous answer was correct. The path to Ketosis has been compared to a slippery slope. It is difficult to get there and easy to slide back down. This is why the "one cheat day" a week method is bad. You'll never be in Ketosis.
