Parking car at the Amtrak station in Fresno?

I will arrive back in Fresno after midnight and the station closes at 10:00 PM. Can I still park in the patron only section? I was looking on Google Maps and noticed it has a gate around the cars, but I'm not sure if they close it. The Amtrak website says there are no parking lot attendants available at any time.

If not, they have a free public parking behind the station, but I'm not sure it's safe. Has anyone tried parking there overnight? Thanks in advance

    Unless you have a super fancy car or something, I think the free parking should be fine. Don't leave any valuables visible in the car.
