The only advantage that cable has over satellite is video on demand. They are many programs/movies/specials that you can watch right away and you have DVR-like functionality (rewind, fast-forward, pause) without having to rent a DVR. Some of them come with your subscription and some of them cost extra. But for me, I can never seem to find the episode of the show I want to watch on demand so IMO it's crap, just an excuse to charge more. With cable TV alone you get fewer channels than satellite and it costs more. Cable is only cheaper if you bundle it with the cable company's Internet and phone services.

Cable Tv is cheap everywhere but the quality of cable tv is very bad. DTH is new technology.
