HDMI setting on TV not working?

So I have a 720p Toshiba from 2006 that has an hdmi port. I have been using it for the past 6 years for the same thing. All I use it for is gaming. I have owned various xbox 360's and I now have a PS3 slim that is a year old. It has always been as simple as plugging the cord into the TV and PS3 and switching to the HDMI input on my TV. I recently took my PS3 to a friend's house and plugged it into their Vizio with their HDMI cord. When I plugged it back in at home, my TV did not pick up any picture or sound on the HDMI setting. I didn't change any of the settings on my ps3 and my tv has had the same settings for the past 6 years. I tried to hook up the old standard av cables and that worked perfectly fine, but I can't stand playing standard def, especially on an hdtv. Every time I switch to hdmi, the screen just goes black. I tried my Sony Vaio pc as well and that didn't work either. Is it time for me to get a new tv, or can anyone help me solve this problem?

It might just be a glitch in the tv. Try unplugging the tv from the wall for about 10 minutes. Then replug it, see if the HDMI input works again. If not, it may be damaged. You can use red/green/blue component cables and get HD also, so try that if the the HDMI doesn't work after the unplugging.

HDMI cables will artwork as long as the two the television and the gadget you're connecting have a HDMI port available, there are actually not any particular cables for particular jobs, basically some are longer then others and gold plated ends are extra valuable regardless of the incontrovertible fact that it does not actual count.
