Blogging: Tumblr/Blogger vs. Website?

I want to make a blog but I'm not sure what site to use. I want to post all sorts of things, but mostly text and photos. It would also be cool if I could upload documents to share. What sort of thing would work better? Should I create a Tumblr/Blogger or one of those accounts, or start my own website with a blog? I appreciate your input. :)

StumbleUpon is fun, and you can make a mini-blog... I've never had much luck with Tumblr... Blogger is fun for 3 days... google plus is great and like a micro blog but if you really want a blog that you can easily convert into a website or vice versa, you could use WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal. I'd recommend WordPress or Joomla unless you're a programmer, which case you could use Drupal.

If you have no money or hosting you can use Weebly, which is free, but comes with ads, but is easy for making webpages.

For WordPress and those other sites try http://www.bluehost.com/track/fiddydips/ya for 1 click install. This come from experience, because I've tried half a dozen other hosting companies and I've never really had service like this. It's fantastic.
