  • Detox Suggestions?

Hi, I'm an 18-year-old female and I'm planning on detoxing. I'm not trying to lose weight, I'm just trying to kind of restart my tastebuds (college food sucks) and clean out my body. Does anyone have any suggested diets? I don't want to do anything unhealthy. Thanks!

  • Blogging: Tumblr/Blogger vs. Website?

I want to make a blog but I'm not sure what site to use. I want to post all sorts of things, but mostly text and photos. It would also be cool if I could upload documents to share. What sort of thing would work better? Should I create a Tumblr/Blogger or one of those accounts, or start my own website with a blog? I appreciate your input. :)

  • What are some transcendentalist-like books?

I'm trying to find the titles of some books that were published before 1790 and have a message that emphasizes self-reliance, admiration of nature, and/or the benefits of seclusion from society. Thank you!

  • What do you need to start a business?

I'm doing a project where my partner and I have to "create" a business and determine our costs. One of the things we have to decide is what we need to buy to get started. What are some things every business needs to get started? I don't think you need to start off with a cash register, but maybe a locking money box? Just throw out some ideas.

Also, our business sells recycled, repurposed, and reused goods, so do you have any ideas for some specific products? We have several, but it's always good to get some other opinions. :) Thanks!

  • What would be some good second names for these/do you like the ones I have?

I'm trying to come up with second names to accompany these first names (don't worry, they're not for a kid.) They can be a middle or last names, whatever sounds good. You can also make these names the middle names. You can answer whatever parts of it you want, you don't have to answer everything. Feel free to suggest other options too! Just please don't suggest the names Rose, Mae/May, Imogen, or Marie for anything. Have fun, and thanks!

    Which sounds better?

-Alora Jane, Alora Christine, Alora Elizabeth.

    -Adele Monet, Adele Rose

-Anastasia Florence, Anastasia Scarlett, Anastasia Fleur, Anastasia Giselle (I think the second name should be beautiful because Anastasia is beautiful. Everyone says it ought to be short, but I disagree.)

-Arabella Grace, Arabella Marielle, Arabella Rose

    -Autumn Charlotte, Autumn Grace

    -Charlotte Eloise, Charlotte Graeme

    -Chloe Madison, Chloe Monroe

-Clarice Scarlett, Clarice Jasmine, Clarice Danielle, Clarice Maya, Clarice Whitney, Clarice Isabella, Clarice Fiona

I can’t really picture there being a good middle name for any of these. They just seem to stand alone. Thoughts?

    Amber, Amethyst, Aphrodite, Circe

I need some help with these names:

    -Amathea (Am-uh-thee-uh)

    -Amelie

    -Ariel

    -Athena

    -Aurora

    -Bailey

    -Brandy

    -Brielle

    -Brookyln

    -Calypso

    -Camille

    -Clementine

There will be more of these questions coming, so if you like them stay tuned. :)

  • Some names with these meanings?

I'm looking for some names that have these meanings, or meanings that are related to them. Anything you can add is great--you don't have to answer all of them. Although they don't actually have to be Spanish, they should be able to suit a Spanish person. (This is for a story, by the way, not a baby.)

    1. Alegría/Happiness

    2. Persona/Personality/Identity

(1 and 2 should be opposite genders, but it doesn't matter which one's which. They are both for kids in the story.)

    3.Caballo/Horse

    4. Mar/Sea (this should be male)

    5. Olas/Waves

    6. Hilo/Thread/Shirt

    7. Corazon/Heart

    8. Pena/Pain/Sorrow

    9. Rio/River

    10. Myrtle (find a similar name)

    11. Iglesia/Church

    12. Cabellista/Cowboy

    13. Montes/Mounts

    14. Nubes/Clouds

    15. Luz/Light

    Thanks!!

  • Who do you think were the most important people from 1750-1760?

Primarily in America, but people from Europe will do as well. :) I just want your opinions, I'm not looking for a specific answer.

  • What does this mean? (in Spanish)?

    ¡Juventud nunca vivida,

    quién te volviera a soñar!

It's from the poem "La primavera besaba," written by Antonio Machado. I just don't understand the grammar in these lines.

Please translate it or explain it in Spanish if you can't in English, I just want to understand it.

  • If you were to create some general categories to classify names, what would they be?

Some examples: Cute, Masculine, Feminine, Elegant, Beautiful, Old-fashioned, Youthful, Sad, Oriental, Arabic, Spanish, etc. (You don't have to use those, obviously) Make sure you make enough categories so that almost every name can fit, and make it so that they apply to both girls and boys. Also, give examples for each category; at least 2, boy and girl, please.

  • What is this writing technique called?

When the author writes a paragraph or so describing normal proceedings (e.g., the neighbor was walking his dog, the old lady was watering her flowers, etc.) but then suddenly puts in an abnormal action (e.g., Mr. Hutchinson was shot in the middle of the street)? The technique is used to highlight the fact that everything was going normally before the strange action. I don't even know if this technique has a name, but I thought it did. Or maybe a phrase like, "The red blanket in the snow." (Obviously that's not it, it was just an example.)

  • Why are these this type of reaction? (combustion, decomposition, synthesis, or single/double replacement)?

    1. Aluminum lawn furniture becomes coated with a layer of aluminum oxide when it sits out in air.

I thought it was COMBUSTION because it's a metal (aluminum) and oxygen forming the oxide of a metal(aluminum oxide), but everyone seems to think it's SYNTHESIS. Is this right? If so, why?

    2. When solution of sodium iodide and lead nitrate are combined, a yellow solid forms.

I thought it was SYNTHESIS because it's two substances (sodium iodide and lead nitrate) combining to form one compound (the yellow solid) but everyone thinks it's DOUBLE-REPLACEMENT. Is this right? If so, why?

    3. Propane is a common household fuel. When burned, water and carbon dioxide are produced.

Is this COMBUSTION? I think so, but I'm not sure. If it's not, please explain why.

  • Chemistry, Help! (I'm not asking you to do my homework for me, I just need help)?

    A. Do these react? If so, what's the basic equation? I know how to read the activity series for pairs of potential reactants when it's only two. But when they add the third, I don't know which ones to look at. For example, fluorine would react with iodide, not potassium. So I dunno... (I also have to balance the equations, so if you wouldn't mind helping me with that too, it'd be great)

    1. fluorine and potassium iodide

    2. magnesium bromide and chlorine

    3. Silver and calcium nitrate

    B. Just a general question, how do you know when a substance is aqueous, liquid, gas, or solid when it's written in a word equation? When it's a regular equation? What would a substance be if it's a vapor, gaseous?

I will have more....Keep your eyes open. Thank you alll!!!

  • Help! My dog is sick! Not sure what it is?

    His symptoms include:

    cold nose

    labored breathing

excessive drinking of water and throwing up afterward

muscle spasms and/or local seizures? (we're not sure what they are)

    expanded stomach area

    runny nose

    drooling

    occasional stumbling

Sometimes he seems like he's getting better but then he like starts throwing up any water he drinks. We called our vet and we're taking him in tomorrow, but we're worried he might not make it through the night. We gave him some aspirin, too. Should we let him drink water? I've looked up several things and we've ruled out diabetes and frog poisoning. He's been kinda lethargic and strange, but then just recently he started the vomitting and stuff.

So what do you think could be wrong with him? Please answer, any suggestions. And if you can, explain why you think it could be thaht rather than other things. What do you think his chances are, is there anything we can do for him before taking him to the vet, and should we give him water? Thank you!
