Why is it that so many people on Yahoo want to buy bankrupt companies? Now imagine that you are a creditor at the bankruptcy table and there is a proposal to do a merger to take AMR out of bankruptcy. Left on its own there is no chance that creditors get anything like 100% repayment of debt (they are looking at 30% or less). So then this merger proposal comes through and they talk about divinding equity up. You are a senior creditor and the proposal shows up and it says "Let's give equity to the old equity holders instead of the senior debt holders who aren't being made whole". I would laugh so hard I would wet myself and say "You know what? I'm blocking that proposal."
You clearly have not the first clue how bankruptcy works but you want to invest in a bankrupt company. Do you usually do things like that in your investment decisions? AMR stock is worth 0 or close. It's an idiots stock bought by novices and morons.

I'm not at all a fan of the airlines. And I don't think it's a good idea to buy a stock on a takeover rumor unless you want to own the stock for other reasons. And that is not the case for me and AMR.
