Do you do your own research project during SIMR or help with research at the institute?
A lot of the research summer thing I've looked at expect you to come up with your own project, which you will have mentors to help you with. Is SIMR the same way, or do you just help out in the lab?

They have a summer program ( http://simr.stanford.edu/ ) which is what I am talking about
