Question # 1:

After experimenting with the different weights of paper, you discover that 100 sheets of paper averages 1.25 cm thick.

A) What is the unit rate for sheets of paper per centimeter? Explain how you know.

B) Based on the request, determine if the variables in the relationship are proportional. Explain how you know.

C) Complete the table for manuscripts from 0 to 500 in 50 page intervals; use the variable "t" for thickness in cm and the variable "p" for the total pages.

    100/1.25 = 80sheets/cm

    B/

    Yes

    p =0 , t=0

    p = 50 , t = (50/80)cm = 0.625cm

    p=100 , t = (100/80)cm = 1.25cm

    ...and so on

    A) 1.25 cm / 100 sheets = 0.0125 cm/sheet

    B) Sure the stack of paper is proportional to the number of sheets in the stack by 0.0125

    C) t = 0.0125 p complete from p=0 to p=500 in intervals of 50
