Airforce vs navy education pros and cons?
Hi im trying to decide between air force and navy at the moment. Both from my point of view have there pros and cons but if i join i want to have a long career in 1 branch.
If i go air force im going to sign up for ISR or Space system operations if i go navy navy, Navel intelligence all the way.
Now the main question is the schooling i would like a Masters degree in science and a bachelors in engineering.
I understand that the navy or air force is full time and school is part time but Do you think that amount of schooling is possible in lets say 10-20 years active duty? thanks
Also which should i join? From what i can tell the air force you kind of get stranded out on a base.... the navy is looking more attractive because of the traveling but is the schooling just as good?

When you are active duty, you can only take classes that don't interfere with your work schedule. Some military posts re located near large colleges or universities, but not a whole lot of them. Usually there's just a community college. Engineering BS's are usually only offered at bigger schools, not community colleges, and are not often offered online. Since those classes would typically be during the day, and you would typically be working during the day, you would not be able to attend. You will NOT be released from work early to attend classes. If you do take night or weekend classes, and work runs late or you get a 24-hour duty, you would not be released to go to class. Military comes first.

Your best bet for getting a degree while serving is air force. They actually will give you college credits while in tech school (job training). Some tech schools will even offer associate degrees depending on the job field you pick. The AF also has a good working schedule (unless you are security forces) so finding time to get classes done should be relatively easy. Its really just depends how committed you are.
I'm in the Marines and we are notorious for horrible working schedules and that makes it almost impossible to get any sort of schooling done. BUT there is a sergent in my squadron who managed to get a BA while he was full time active duty after 5 1/2 years. Sure he had no social life, but he got a good education completely paid for because he had the motivation to do it. It just depends on you.

there is no such thing as air force or navy schooling
in your off duty time, you can take class's at a local university off base
your degree options are based on what degrees that local university offers
