What degree of artistic ability is required for computer animation?
I recently dropped out of my previous university (For a degree in Chemistry) because I realized that I want to become an animator. I love watching all varieties of cartoons/ animes. The only problem is that I have almost zero artistic ability. I know that it is at least partially necessary, but exactly how necessary? Could I take a few art classes over the summer and get good enough? Thank You

art is gonna be very important. you're gonna have to know about cartoon anatomy obviously. unless ya gonna draw a stick figure cartoon. so the first poster got it right. you're gonna get loaded down with a bunch of art classes.
it's not "partially" necessary. it's totally necessary.
if ya wanna look at the classes you'd be taking all ya have to do is look at college websites. they usually have a list of classes for each degree on there somewhere.

My brother plans on majoring in animation and his been asked to take classes in a ton of different fields of art like the basic stuff painting, drawing stuff like that as well as Computer animation and studies on different types of animation so I think if you would want to get a good job in Computer Animation it would be best to do more than a few art classes.

An animation director is the director in control of all facets of the animation process in the course of the production of an animated film or animated segment for a reside-action movie. This will likely comprise directing the character design, history animation, and another side of animation.
