How good are monks compared to other classes? WoW?

Better aoe tanking potential than a paladin, but actually making it work is hard to do. I'm really not sure why this is, but I end up working very hard on my monk to hold as much aggro as on my paladin, even though a straight comparison of abilities says the monk should be the better tank.

Healing, on the other hand, is incredible. Monks are amazing healers, and are in my opinion the best healing class right now. They even have a fair bit of DPS ability as healers go, second only to a discipline priest.

Their best abilities are as DPS however. Their most impressive moves are all in the Windwalker tree, both visually and in terms of game mechanics.

they have some good tanking ... They throw barrels which keeps it easy on them to hold aggro ..

I healed with one for a while but got bored because at a lower lvl you only have 1 heal
