Is Krav Maga worth learning? Pros of it?

hey there.

I'm 15, and I'm looking to lose some weight and at the same time learn to defend myself and what not. Within a few weeks I'm going on my diet and doing strictly cardio. Since the krav maga classes that i would attend are every other day, the days that i didn't have it I'd be doing mostly cardio at the regular gym.

Does anyone know if krav maga is worth learning? Also, how long would it take to get a six pack while eating right, going to the gym, and doing krav? I'm around 180 lbs, and 5"11 almost 6 foot.

Thanks to everyone!

Krav Maga is worth learning if you're solely interested in self-defense.

Krav Maga is a self-defense system that is not sports-oriented or rule-based. The sole intent of the Kravist is to end a violent attack as quickly as possible (it won't necessarily be pretty) in order to go home safely.

Note: Find out how far you can advance in your school's KM curriculum. In order to receive your brown belt, your instructor will have to be a KRAV MAGA black belt. I have visited martial arts schools that offered KM and the lead instructor was a black belt in another martial art and only certified to teach to the KM orange belt level (level 2) because he was only a green belt in KM.

How quickly you get a six pack is going to depend on your diet and the intensity of workouts.

Complete Krav-Maga is an excellent book. However, on page 9, it stresses that though a book can deliver information about techniques, etc.--it cannot simulate Krav-Maga training. A trained instructor can see when you are doing something wrong, point out better solutions for your body shape, size, and fitness level, and do stress drills, which help to simulate reacting during a stressful encounter. These are things you cannot get from a book. I enjoy this, and other books, as a way to review what I have already learned in class. It could never substitute going to class. If you are interested in Krav-Maga for self-defense and fitness, I recommend finding a certified instructor in your area. Most schools have both self-defense and fitness based classes. If Krav-Maga is not available in your area, there are lots of good alternative self-defense and martial arts classes. You will have to shop around to find the one the best suits you.

Krav maga is not a martial art it's a self defense course. There are two types the military and the civilian the only one available is the civilian.

It's not a complete system. Many instructors supplement other styles to make it more complete

Krav maga is good to learn or not is totally dependent on the person practicing it.

But yes advantage of it is, combination of almost all martial arts viz. muay thai, boxing, juijutsu, wrestling. So according to me it would be jack of all the trades.

Getting six pack requires a lot of efforts in terms of intense workout & proper diet, but it takes a lot a lot a lot of efforts to maintain six pack
