did i get hired to be fired?

the dentist comes to my desk today and says "you're eyes are dilated. i know you are on drugs." so i went and immediately took a drug test and brought him back the results. i passed the drug test bc surprise surprise, i dont do drugs!

so then he says "well i believe you did acid over the weekend and it just hasnt worn off yet. your eyes arent just dilated for no reason. im a medical dr. i know better. i know a drug addict when i see one."

to which i reply "well i passed my drug test didnt i?"

i had my wisdom teeth pulled, surgery on my lower spine, and then cancer removed from my cervix all in the past few months. not because i wanted to do all of these things back to back, but bc i went so long without insurance and they all desperately needed to be done... i have always scheduled it so that it wouldnt interfere with my work... i have never been late, left early, took a personal call or anything. he hired me KNOWING i had no experience, i got 4 days of training and now i am a receptionist/medical biller/dental assistant with no schooling and 4 days of training. of course there have been some mistakes along the way, but i have done my very best to do all of my jobs to the best of my ability.

so he brings this up and says "well some drug addicts go to doctors for legitimate reasons to get drugs..." meaning the medication that they give before/after surgery....

so then he says he only wants people of stature working for him and he has to spend the evening deciding whether or not i get to keep my job...

he is getting more and more furious at this point. he screams that i'm full of **** twice, even though im leisurely standing there and just trying to calm him down... he tries to put paper in the printer, wrinkles the bottom page and pulls the whole drawer out and slams it on the floor. he tells me for someone with a college degree, im not very intelligent and he has seen high school drop outs with better comprehension than i have. so then he makes me go and get my post surgery medication, which i havent taken any of since monday when i had surgery. he makes me give him the bottle so he can count this pills. out of 24 5mg percocets, there are still 20 there. 4 percocets over 3 days hardly constitutes a drug addict! and i didnt even take any today so i wasnt under the influence of anything!!! even though i hurt, i didnt want to be "on pills" while representing his office...

bottom line is, he hired me to fill in for the receptionist who was going away on maternity leave. she returns monday. if he keeps me for another couple of weeks he will have to pay me unemployment. the original receptionist comes back monday...

so he hired me knowing he was going to fire me all along huh?
