Introducing puppy to dog (Fox Terrier) help please?
Hi, me and my family need some help or advice please :) . The thing is we have a 11 years old female Fox Terrier in the house, and today my uncle gave us a 2 months old male Fox Terrier(he caused allergies to their kid), but the old one has never been like in contact with another dog, and she barks and trys to attack every single other dog or any thing that moves haha, and when we put both dogs on the floor the old one tries to attack the puppy, and will not be calm until we get them to separate rooms and she like forgets that the puppy is here, and we are afraid she causes him some serious injuries, so we please need some advice on this situation. We only put them on the floor two times, and the big dog, which got a muzzle on tried to bite him and hit the poor puppy and wont stop hurting him until we get them of the floor... So if you got any advice please tell us what to do, if you got any question about the situation ask me and i will answer asap.. So thank in advance!! and greeting from Costa Rica! :D
thank you very much!! i will definitely try this!

Your female just needs to get used to the fact that the males there, and then eventually she'll become more comfortable. I had the same situation and it seemed like the way they got close was when they slept in the same area.
For now you need to keep them separated. Don't let them play together, or even touch each other. Let your female get used to the males scent and presence. Then after a few days, you can start training your female. Your gonna need treats, some good ones to grab her attention.
While both are separately leashed bring them in the same room, still keeping them leashed and apart.
Most likely your female's going to bark and go crazy- so give her 1 command word that your going to teach her like "shhh" or "Quiet", etc. Everytime she barks tell her the command. Once she stops for a minute give her a treat and praise her. She may continue barking again so you repeat these steps with her. Make sure to praise her and let her know your happy along with the treat.
I would separate them and try it again a few minutes later. Repeat these steps till your female can walk in the room and not bark at him. Training a dog takes time and patience but its very effective. Training her to not attack him is another step. You can try this by keeping the male leashed and let the female wander. Let her sniff and get to know the dog. She may try to attack him so intervene early and give her another command word, followed by praise and a treat. Intervening can mean you can grab her and sit her down by pushing her butt down to sit and giving her the command. Repeat the command and treat step. Then bring the female in and out of the room a few times so she can get comfortable when entering in while the male is there or vice versus. just remember the commands and be strict with them. One sign of barking "command" her. And when she tries to get violent, give her the other command word.
hope this helps somewhat! Good luckk

They need to get used to each other. Give them time. Until then don't leave them alone together. The older dog is just upset because other dog is in her space.
