Will there be any issues filing taxes early this year?
I have heard that because of the new tax laws that are being passed, (Wisconsin and/or Illinois) we may not be able to file until mid-March. I do not keep up with the news or new laws that are being passed, so I am clueless...

You will not need to sit until mid march. The IRS is currently reviewing what if any delays will occur. But the recent legislation was such that the fix for the IRS will be relatively easy so that any delay in the filing season will be small.

It wasn't state taxes, it was federal.
Congress didn't get it's act together until 1/2/2013. Some changes are retro to 2012, so, yes, they affect some or all taxpayers.
Geithner pleaded with Congress to pass these changes months ago and explained then that if they didn't, the filing season could be delayed until March.
No official word yet, but if the IRS says you need to wait, then wait. Do NOT get the bright idea that you'll file if some people can file early and amend later.

no you can file as soon as IRS is open for filing, Jan.22
and yes, there are many issues so rapid refunds or definite dates for the refund are not possible
