What age can a rabbit get pregnant?

I'm no planning in breeding what so ever. And I have read online they can as young as 2 months old. =\ I have a 3 month old bunny I got last week and the lady I bought from had them in the cage with both males and females. I have a girl. And I don't plan on getting anymore bunnies I just want one. So I don't really want to have to get her fixed. Idk about that. I have my dogs fixed but is that different? The bunny I had as a kid was not fixed either. So what is the pro and cons of getting a rabbit fixed if its the only one in the home. And also can they really get pregnant that young?

While females can get pregnant at 3 months, it is rare even if they are in with males that are capable. Most females don't become fertile until about 4 months old. There are some males that can be fertile at 8 or 9 weeks and get their mother pregnant, but females being fertile that young are very rare.

You can get her spayed, but you may have to wait until she is a bit older. Most vet won't spay until females are about 5-6 months old, but some may do younger if the rabbit is big enough. Getting her spayed now can be a bit more risky, but a pregnancy can be risky as well.

Many intact females are hormonal and can be difficult to handle. They tend to be territorial, grumpy and aggressive. While not all will be, some will be. Spaying will help a lot with these behaviours. Intact females also have a high risk of reproductive cancer after about 5 years old and spaying will greatly reduce or eliminate these risks. Spayed rabbits tend to make better pets.

Many people will say spaying is not required if you aren't going to house her with an intact male. And that the chances of her dying on the table are higher than her getting ovarian cancer. That CAN be true, IF you choose a vet that is NOT rabbit savvy. Personally, I had a dog that died of ovarian cancer and I did not get her spayed. So for me, that really opened my eyes and I will always fix my pets. Not to mention the behavioral benefits.

And yes they can usually at 3 months they mostly die since they are just babies themselves. I would recommend spaying your rabbit if you have a reputable RABBIT SAVVY vet that has preformed spays before, my vet is extremely rabbit savvy and is the official spay/ neuter vet for at least 2 rescues that I know of. Including the rescue I adopted my older male from.

Many people will tell you different answers, but PERSONALLY, there really is no con for spaying your rabbit except for that tiny tiny risk of anaesthetics used during surgery and the actual surgery. The pros out weigh the cons considerably.

only out of interest, why is this breeder merchandising kits this youthful? so a techniques as breeding is going, rabbits can breed between the a while of three-4 months. i do no longer propose breeding rabbits this youthful yet all human beings is different. additionally, of you're holding your rabbits indoors, your women individuals will stay in estrus longer than outdoor rabbits will. In different words, indoor rabbits would be fertile almost daily, minus being pregnant days. while you're thinking breeding your rabbits, please do it for the better of the breed. maximum breeders seek for solid high quality interior the doe and the greenback. in addition they think approximately if the doe or greenback has genetic subject concerns. while you're breeding netherland dwarf rabbits, you run the subject concerns of having hippo kits and such via X element gene that dwarf rabbits carry. additionally, you do no longer decide to reproduce a rabbit that has the condition called malclussion. as a techniques via fact the "cripple" walk, there are circumstances alongside with splay legs that could influence rabbits. even with the shown fact that, some only walk like that on the beginning up till they get used to their atmosphere. you are able to desire to have your kit checked via the vet to ensure that there are no deformities cutting-edge.
