How to defrost *cooked* chicken pieces?
I have a tub of cooked chicken pieces in the freezer, would it be safe to defrost it in the microwave or should it be left on the kitchen worktop to defrost itself?
If it's safe to defrost in the microwave, how should I do it? How long for?

The safest way would be to allow the chicken to defrost in the fridge.
If you don't have the time, you can start the defrosting process in the microwave. Use the defrost setting and only microwave for about 4-5 minutes. Break off as many chicken pieces as you can and continue microwaving until you can break away more pieces of chicken. Leave the chicken pieces on the worktop to until defrosted, then refrigerate, eat them or reheat in the oven.

Beth, there are only 3 safe ways to defrost anything.
1. In a refrigerator
2 Under cold running water. (if it's cooked like you say this is not good, only for raw).
3 If you defrost raw foods in a microwave, it must be immediately cooked after.
For your cooked chicken...if your going to eat it cold thaw in the cooler, if you microwave it to defrost and heat it at the same time to eat hot you can do that.

It you try to defrost the in the MW you will start to cook them
You can thaw in the bench covered under a cloth and when they are able to break up a bit run them under cold water, pat dry and fry
