The answer is A. The A group numbers are always the same as the number of valence electrons of the elements within it. However, transition metals, the lanthanides and the actinides all have 2 valence electrons since their groups fill in the d and f sub levels.

2 valence electrons..
group one has 1, two 2, the transition metals vary, group 3A (starting with boron) has 3, 4A has 4 and so on.. group 8A has 8 and are the most stable
