Mikayla,
I'm glad you are reaching out for help and want to stop cutting! As important as it is to stop cutting, it is also important to deal with what is causing your emotions to be so intense you cut to cope. Instead of cutting, you can call a friend, exercise, doing something that will keep you active and focused on not cutting.
When you have the urge to cut, you can give us a call at the Boys Town National Hotline; 1-800-448-3000. We have counselors available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We will help you find other ways to cope and find resources in your area for additional support.
You mentioned you don't like talking to people, you can email a counselor from our teen website; www.yourlifeyourvoice.org. There is also information on our site pertaining to self-harm.
Take care,
Counselor, KJ

Mikayla,
I used to cut. I still get the urges. All the time. I am right now, actually. I'm 12, and I started cutting at the beginning of 5th grade. I talk to me closest friend, but you don't like talking. Writing is a really good way to get your feelings out. You could also talk to your friends about something positive. Plan a sleepover and just have a girls day or whatever. It really helps. I also excersize sometimes. It burns steam. Or you could always just relax. Take some deep breaths. Let everything flow out of your mind. You can't keep those negative thoughts about yourself in your head.

Firstly i think it's really important that you see a doctor because you shouldn't be dealing with this on your own. You should try some coping techniques like flicking rubber bands on your wrists, using a red marker pen on your arms, holding ice tightly in your hands, eating a hot chili and also try distraction techniques like watching a favourite movie, listening to some uplifting music, cleaning etc. Please stay strong :) your worth it.

I used to cut. The only person that knows is my boyfriend, and i made a promise to him i would never do it again. It killed him to see the scars and wounds.
So just before you pick up that blade, think about your parents or siblings or friends. Think about somebody that you love. Imagine them hurting themselves just as youre about to do. You dont want that, and neither do they. Hurting yourself hurts others.
Just keep that in mind, it stopped me.
