Any faster way to get Household items in Skyrim: Hearthfire?

Question

So I bought Hearthfire and I built my house to the max up until the point you can expand it by first building the Main Hall Door.

Anyway, I'm having trouble getting all the materials, do I really need to keep fast-travelling back and forth between the Holds and my Lakeview Manor just to get the materials? Also, when I speak to my steward, I only have the option to ask her to buy just 3 materials: lumber, clay and something else. 

Any advice on how to quickly get the household materials?

You can assign a follower to stay at the house and help renovate it. When you do that, you can ask them to go and buy materials and they'll come back a few hours later with the materials. You should note that clay usually can be found nearby your houses and it's a waste to buy any. However, you'll still have to pick up ores and stuff from a shop keeper to make locks and stuff like that, but wood can still be bought the way I said before.
