Does anyone know of any small, uncrowded beaches in Rhode Island where you can pitch a tent for the night?
I want to go in the summer and be able to be alone with the tent right on the sand...... Any ideas?

Ask under the "Camping" category.
East Beach allows barrier beach camping in contained RVs and four-wheel-drive vehicles. The camping season runs from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, and campers are only allowed to stay a maximum of four consecutive days. Dogs or other animals are not permitted on the beach during this time. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management does not allow firewood to be brought to East Beach nor taken from it. Campers are urged to purchase firewood upon arrival. Alcohol is restricted in all areas. The primary campsite occupant---the one who reserves the site and purchases the camping permit---must be at least 18 years of age with a valid ID. Reservations are accepted and encouraged, especially for summer weekends; reserve online through Rhode Island State Parks

actually, Rhode Island IS the two a state AND an Island, the international e book encyclopedia says "Narragansett Bay just about cuts Rhode Island in 2. The bay extends 28 miles (40 5 kilometers) inland from southern Rhode Island. The state has 36 islands, maximum of that are interior the bay. Aquidneck, the main important island, became formally named Rhode Island in 1644. cities on the mainland have been referred to as windfall Plantations. as a consequence, Rhode Island's respected call is 'State of Rhode Island and windfall Plantations/. subsequently, the smallest state has the longest respected call."
