Excel 97 question....?

I am running a spreadsheet in excel 97 that has mysteriously begun to lock cells that data is pasted into. There is no VB code running that would do this, does anyone know if there is a setting that might need to be changed?

    Once you put data into a cell it automatically locks: but if your sheet is unprotected it shouldn't matter. If you are protecting your sheet after making alterations THAT could be your problem. You'd have to unlock the cells before protecting the sheet.
