how long does it take a shop to build a engine?

I took my engine ( honda d16z6 ) to a shop to get sleeved and fully assembled and its been about 2 months now and it still isn't done. How long does a shop take to assemble an engine? Keep in mind that they are building everything, the head, block, pistons, rods, etc. this shop is pretty busy but still. How long does it take?

It depends on the skill level of the person doing the work. A race car team can rebuild an entire engine in several hours.

Sounds to me like they have just ignored you. Call and find out what the problem is.

Could have just payed the $2500 bucks to buy a rebuilt, would have shipped in 24 hours, granted there will be shipping charges and you will have to ship the old core back, but its better than waiting 2 months, so unless this is a very very busy high end performance shop your most likely being jacked off and ripped off,

Depending how many other customers they have, it could take up to a year honestly. That's a big project. Usually something like that takes me 6 to 8 months to do in my garage and that's not working on anything else.
