Are lentils good for you?

Are Lentils good for you even though they have a lot of carbs?

    Yes, very good in fact. Unlike the simple carbs from starch, which are readily converted to sugars, the carbs in lentils are complex carbs- they are slow-release energy, which is just the kind you want to keep those blood sugar spikes under control. In addition lentils are high in protein (make you feel full for longer) and rich in potassium, which will help regulate your blood pressure.

    The same goes for kidney beans, chick peas (=garbanzo beans) etc.

    They also have a lot of protein, and carbs that you get from whole foods like lentils, legumes, beans, nuts, vegetables and fruits are what your body NEEDS. They're long-lasting carbs, unlike refined sugar and refined flour which turns into sugar once you ingest it. They'll keep you going and help your metabolism keep working effectively.

    Yes they are. And Lentil and tomato soup is a very good Lenten meal when Catholics can't eat meat on Friday.

    Try some with a good loaf of bread.
