What is James Holmes attorney thinking? Theater Shooting.?
Is Holmes planning to plea not guilty? Not likely.
or Guilty? Not likely?
Not guilty by reason of insanity? Likely.
Has Holmes confessed? Maybe not. I don't think he has denied being the shooter.
Does anyone really have any doubt that he committed these heinous murders?
No matter what, he will either get life, or the death penalty. right?
The pile of evidence against him is so damning. right?
If I was his lawyer, I would tell him that the evidence is overwhelming, to plea guilty, and throw his soul on the mercy of the court to spare his life. Case closed.
I doubt that the victims families enjoy going to court day after day, and would just as soon they lock the guy up and throw away the key.
Do the courts and lawyers enjoy the circus of the trial, and want to enhance their paychecks? Or do they want a speedy and fair trial, for all concerned? Really.
I admit it's interesting hearing all the evidence coming out, but that could be released regardless of the trial.
Just lock the evil bastard away already?
If they go for the death penalty, it will take years of expensive appeals. And they will never kill him. There are currently three guys on death row in Colorado, and only one execution since 1977.
Not worth the expense, and this freak would probably feel death is the easy way out.
Kenneth- A lawyer should be doing what is in the best interest of their client. Copping a plea deal is sometimes in their best interest. The lawyer should tell him to show a little remorse.

In the state of Colorado, the state must prove that a person is sane if someone pleads not guilty because of insanity (this only occurs in 11 states, while the others make the defense prove that the defendant is insane if they have an insanity defense). Therefore, it is quite possible that the case won't even go to trial if Colorado can't prove sanity in Holmes, as the case would be dismissed.
I would like to repeat what another person stated: I wouldn't want you as my lawyer in any criminal or civil proceeding.

Well than I'm glad you aren't a lawyer.
A lawyer wouldn't be doing his/her job if they just told their clients to give up without exhausting any and all legal options available to the client.
And this isn't "enhancing" the paychecks of any of the lawyers involved. Holmes has a state Public Defender, who works on a fixed salary, and would be making the same amount of money regardless of this case and whether or not it goes to trial.
Edit: Yes, working out a plea deal is often in the best interest of the client, but the defense lawyer can't just pull a plea deal out of thin air. There has been no indication that the prosecution has offered any type of plea deal (I can't imagine they would in this case), and having the defendant just plead guilty and throw his soul to the mercy of the court like you suggested is not a plea deal, it is giving up and hoping for the best from the Judge while the prosecution is still demanding the needle in his arm.

uncertain, no person is familiar with what replaced into occurring in his head or why he snapped. regularly its some thing tragic interior the previous that befell i'm assuming. look at Columbine, those 2 young human beings did it with the aid of fact of bullying and the reality that they felt on my own and weren't everyday with the aid of others.

I would like to hear this dirtbag murderer state in court that the REASON he chose Aurora was that they have a total ban on concealed carry, that he didn't want anyone to be legally able to shoot back. This will unmask the sickening fallacy of "gun control" making us safer. A total ban did nothing to save those people.
