Help me find the title of this story?

When I was younger we had a bunch of stories on cassette tapes that we would listen to on road trips. One of them was kind of like Gigi: The Merry-go-round horse or whatever. But much darker. The main premise was that this horse was thinking about how all the little children can run around, but the horse was stuck to the carousel and it started crying or something. I think maybe the horse broke loose, but I can't remember, it's been about seven years since I last heard it, but the tape was definitely much older. If anyone has any ideas that could point me in the right direction?
