Why can't Flame Emission spectroscopy be used for the analysis of Magnesium?

Magnesium (Mg2+) ions in solution, cannot be analysed by FES but can by ICP, why?

    i believe it is to do Mg flame's temperature, it is far greater than what Flame Emission Spectroscopy detectors can detect and analyse hence the use of ICP...
