How to break a steering wheel lock on a 1996 Nissan sentra....?
My 1996 Nissan sentra steering wheel locked up on me. The key turns, it goes in to drive but my steering wheel won't move. What do I do? I can't afford a mechanic so I need to figure out how to do this myself.

If the steering wheel won't unlock using the key it means the complete lock housing must come off. You need to take off all the steering column plastic shrouding and then drill out the anti theft bolts holding the lock housing in place. Next you will need to install a new steering lock/ignition assembly. Only buy it at the dealer using the VIN to order the correct one. It's pricey so start saving your money!

If the steering lock will not free up by twisting the steering wheal to the extreme left, and right, please take the problem to a repair shop.
When you get there, you will need solid evidence that you are the owner of the car, or the police will come calling.
