Why did God stop Saul of Tarsus from killing all the Christians?
Surely God must have known all the trouble that Christianity would cause throughout the ages.God must have known that Christian religious leaders would misintepret the scriptures and cause confusion and false belief and even disbelief in his Word. Surely God must have known that so called followers of Jesus would split into many different religions all claiming to be the true religion. God must have know that these so called Christians would use paganism to celebrate the birth of His son Jesus ( who incidently forebade His followers to follow the custom of Saturnalia and NEVER EVER Instructed His followers to celebrate His birth at any time.

...and you're talking about the *good* guys. How much more messed up it'd be with out them!
There are lots of things Jesus didn't tell us to do. Almost everything, in fact. He didn't tell us to breathe; should we stop doing that? The scriptures are not a rule book for every little thing.
Forgive me.

This is obviously supposed to get religious believers annoyed, and I salute you sir! Some of these answers are pretty funny (especially from the religious side). And yeah, religion (ironically) evolves over time to suit the needs of it's followers, rather a lot like the Nazi party :)

Yes, God probably did know all these things. He also knew, along with his Son, Jesus, that there would be two major forms of Christianity, false Christianity with all it's different denominations and the one true Christianity. You can see the former all around you today, you can see the latter by visiting a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Saul was much more useful as a Christian, as he was much more highly educated than Jesus' other disciples. He was a high-ranking member of the religious establishment of the time- the Sanhedrin.
This would be like turning Alex Jones pro-Obama.

The Church is guided by the Holy Spirit that's the one that Peter was the leader and Paul helped bring the Gentiles into the fold because he was both Jew and a Roman citizen.
Faith takes many paths, we trust in God's mercy and goodness and don't worry about people who claim that its all wrong.

So, because Satan would inflame lots and lots of evil minded people to thwart the course of saving peoples souls, by calling themselves Christians too, God should not have helped it survive?

Poor judgment. If he had Christianity would have died out long ago.
Today's Christianity should really be labeled "Paulism" since over 80,000 words in the NT are attributed to him. The amazing thing is that he never met Jesus while he was alive.

Because it was to show that even Christianity's worst enemy could become one of them. Plus, don't whine about Christmas, the idea of it is to praise God. Just because God didn't tell us to do something doesn't mean we should do it. God didn't tell us to drive a car, or use a computer, so why should celebrating Christmas be any different?
