Are you unemployed and considering working in education?

I earned my first degree in 1991. I could not break into the area I received my degree in, so I began dabbling as a substitute teacher in 1992. I have been working in Education as a Sub and Regular Classroom Teacher more than 20 years, and I am so glad I "dabbled" in this area. Don't be fooled and believe that regular classroom certified teachers don't make any real money. Many new teachers in my school district earn close to $40,000 their first year, and have outstanding benefits.

So, if you are unemployed, have some college or a degree, then consider subbing before you sign any full-time teaching contracts. It would be very helpful if you read my article/link and let me know if you like the article, and how it may help you, a family member or a friend. Feel free to share it to applicable parties.

Subbing is exactly what a lot of new college graduates do if they can't get a contract, and also have someone to support them since their income would only be part-time. I'm glad that you have enjoyed subbing for 20 years. New teachers in my area earn above the $40,000 level and yes they do have decent benefits although with each new contract, those benefits tend to decrease.
