v6 mustang to v8 swap?

How difficult is this swap? i have a 2001 mustang v6 with the 3.8L Please dont tell me to just trade it in or build the v6. I just purchased a 2003 Mustang gt engine and transmission for 1,500 and it has 30,000 original miles and comes with the speedometer, brake booster, ecu, harness. What else will i need? I'm about to buy the 8.8 rear end too for 300 bucks. and my mechanic charges me 1,200 to do the swap. He builds chevy's and fords for a living. So is it worth it?

Its not that hard if you have all the right parts and it sounds like you do, don't forget new engine mounts, larger radiator, and other miscellaneous parts. Also you may need a larger fuel pump and regulator for the larger engine.

You will be lucky if you can get it completely done for 1,200 bucks I would plan on spending more than that to make it all work correctly.

Well if you switch the v6 to a v8 you will prob need to change the trans too may not fit and engine will produce more torque than the trans can handle so it will tear up faster. You will also need to change engine mounts, fuel injectors, and you will nedd to find out what fuel injector system you have which is probably coil on plug sequential injection more than likely. There is alot more to it than just swapping engines when you change an engine to a bigger size you change alot more in the car. Honestly with a 2001 mustang its not even worth it to put the work into it your doing it won't be worth anything. You will put about $8,000 in the car and maybe make it worth $2,500 more.
