First, the #1 best site out there for axolotl care is http://www.axolotl.org./ Second, the best forum to ask questions about axoltols is caudata.org, specifically here (the axolotl section): http://www.caudata.org/forum/f46-beginner-newt-sal...
And now for your answers...
1. Earthworms, frozen/live/freeze-dried tubifex worms, frozen/live/freeze-dried bloodworms, frozen/live/freeze-dried brine shrimp, salmon pellets, newt pellets, etc.
2. It depends on what you choose to buy and where. Aquariums can be very, very expensive. You can find cheaper ones through sites like craigslist or through yard sales and thrift stores, or you can get them through pet stores (the most expensive option). Also, the bigger the tank you get, the more expensive. You'll also need to buy decorations, water conditioner, etc.
3. Any water temperature that does not go above 70 degrees Fahrenheit. They do better at cooler temperatures though, so between 60 and 64 degrees Fahrenheit.
4. It depends on how big your axolotl is. You'll learn as you go. If you axolotl finishes eating and there's still tons of food left, you fed him too much. Babies should be fed every day. Little guys every day or every other day. Adults three times a week.
5. The water needs to be conditioned the moment you put it into the tank (add water conditioner you find in pet stores that removes dangerous chemicals (like chlorine) from tap water). Then you need to do water changes about every week. A water change is when you remove 10-20% of the aquarium's water and replace it with new water.
6. You can do either live or fake, it's your preference. However, adult axolotls tend to have fun beating live plants up, so it's pretty difficult to keep them down in the substrate. Also, axolotls do not like high light situations (which many plants need) and need cold water (most plants sold in the pet trade are warm water plants). I honestly think fake plants are much, much easier, but if you're interested, here's a list of live plants that seem to be successful in axolotl aquariums (you'll have to scroll down a bit): http://www.caudata.org/axolotl-sanctuary/Aquascape...
7. Leave it in the tank. When you're cleaning the aquarium, you should only be removing 10-20% of the water, so your axolotl will be just fine hanging out in the water still in there while you clean.
8. As said above, you should do a water change every week. You can also remove any decorations from the tank and wash them with warm water (no soap or chemicals of any kind!!!) every few weeks.
Good luck! And definitely take a look at the sources I gave you. They helped me soooooo much when I was preparing for my little axie! I've had him a year now and he's the best pet ever ^_^

1)In the wild, axolotls feed on snails, worms, crustaceans, small fish, and small amphibians. In captivity, they can be fed brine shrimp, small strips of beef or liver, earthworms (wild caught worms can carry parasites), bloodworms, tubifex worms, or commercial fish pellets (e.g. salmon or trout pellets). If feeding these fresh items it is best to feed a variety to get a better balance in the diet. You can also get special axolotl feeding pellets (
2) Depends how nice you want it too look. Btw get a 15-20 gallon tank for them..
3) 58-70 degress (never above 75)
4) feed sparringly according to weight and size
5) buy a dechlorinator (5$) at a pet store and follow directions on bottle to treat water properly
6) Fake. You need special lighting for live plants (more $$ needs to be spent)
7) You should not be in a situation where you have to take the axolotl out of its enclosure to clean is tank. Just make sure you stay on top of water changes, and nothing will happen for you to hav to take him out all the time. Plus if you have a filter, it will be clean enough with water changes
8)do a water change of 20% weekly (if you are not using a filter) do a 20% water change daily or every other day.
