How do we prepare for spending time apart?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost 2 years now. We're a more "traditional" couple, because we choose to be, not because our parents force us to be. We're strong in our Christian faith, we haven't had sex, we see each other about 3 or 4 days a week because we live about thirty minutes from each other. We're going to college in August. I got accepted into my dream school and am set on attending. He isn't sure about what he wants to do but he has two prospective schools - one that he has been accepted to that's 2 1/2 hours from me and another that he hasn't heard from which he really would like to go to that's 5 1/2 hours away. My question is, how do we prepare to go from seeing each other several times a week to possibly going several weeks between seeing each other? I understand how big the possibility of this relationship failing is. However, we have talked about it and we don't see it as an option to end the relationship or "take a break." We would really like to try and make things work so if you have and suggestions or advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

nothing can prepare you for the problems that will arise from a long-distance relationship.

Just like Mandy Johnson, we gave up after 2 semesters.
