bad luck regarding mirrors?

Smash another mirror, walk under a few ladders making sure you step on the gaps, throw the salt on the floor and be unpleasant to a black cat. Then you'll realise that you make your own luck.

Mirrors used to be extremely expensive because they were made of hand-blown glass silvered with mercury. That's why breaking one is regarded as a bad omen. Now you can buy them for pennies - get over it.

PS In Italy, putting your feet or shoes on the table is a sign of death - probably yours. I wonder if I could use that as a defence if I strangled the next time I find an American travelling on a long-distance train with his feet on the table.

The bad luck after breaking mirror is a bit exaggerated...there is a simple way to remove the bad effect, if you believe in those stuff.

Pick up the fragments of mirror, careful not to touch any with bare hand (easy, wearing a pair of washing gloves would do the trick). Pack the fragments into the box or a bag (preferably white, but not necessarily), tie it with the white string thirty three times and then duck tape it all over (this last has nothing to do with magic, but with simple precaution...you don't want someone to find it and cut him/herself on the fragments one day just because of curiosity. Also, writing clear warning about what's inside might do some good, too).

Anyway, on the next full moon, go to some deserted place you know, dig a hole deep enough to place the box/bag inside, cover it with dirt, get up, turn your back to it and do not turn, but walk away. Do not go to that same place for seven years (and some say never...in which case you will have to pick a place you normally don't go) and your bad luck will stay there.

Some believe that person walking away should say: "Buried mirror stay in hole, you shall find me never more. " but to tell you the truth, it sounds a bit childish to me (I'm not strong believer in word magic and this even doesn't sound as a proper spell). It's on you to decide.

Get a s t r ip of leather and tie 9 knots in it while staring into a fire (a candle is adequate) and humming the first song that comes to mind no matter how ridiculous or inappropriate it may seem. Then bury that knotted strand some place it's unlikely to be disturbed. This should be done alone, of course.

The only way is when you first break it dont touch it not any of it at all for seven hours, then it will be seven hours of bad luck not years. Clean it up after seven hours. This is all just superstition, not really true. Its just in your head (:
