SERIOUS QUESTION-NOT A JOKE-LOOKING FOR HELP-THANKS!!?

i remember reading a story on the origin of catholic nuns but where or exact details escape me.

the story went that the nuns were originally inhabitants of the greek island of lesbos where the cult of sappho lived and that the catholic church recruited the cult into catholicism which is how they became all female since the cult consisted of lesbians

ive checked wikipedia and official catholic sites but nothing .as if the catholic sites would admit something like that!! LOL !

sound familiar to anyone?? thanks!!

And what would that be, 'the cult of Sappho'? Sappho was not a mythical character, not a goddess or philosopher. She was a poet, a real-life poet, and possibly a lesbian in the sexual as well as the geographical meaning of the word (although this is not confirmed). She wrote passionate poetry, and it is said (and again, not confirmed) that she cast herself off the rocks of Lesbos over a broken heart.

    Abject nonsense.

I dont expect much of christians, but when I read statements like this I seriously doubt the persons ability to eat unassisted. If any statement of this kind is made,. then reference it or bin it.

This does sound familiar, seriously, but I can't source it off the top of my head.
