I'm sorry but you don't go to a General Practitioner for mental problems. There is no test for Borderline Personality Disorder, no screening or aything like that. If you feel like you have BPD and I did read your question, seems like it fits. Then what will basically happen is that they will ask you a whole bunch of questions, they will also probably want to know if your moods run on a cycle or seem to have a pattern, try and keep track of that stuff. They will most likely set you up with regular therapy. That is the treatment for BPD, Pills can help but aren't requierd and sometimes can do more harm than good, especially when dealing with the untrusting nature of a Borderline. They can help with obsessive thoughts and anxiety as well as anger outbursts. The main thing is that you try and find a therapist that works for you. You need to be able to trust them and feel compfortable with them. You may ask for something called DBT, it's a type of therapy that is most helpful with treating BPD. It's a long road of recovery but what is important is that recovery is possible.

looks like you might do, as for what can be expected, i really wouldnt know, they may take you or send you for a screening test for PD which would give them an idea of how likely you are to have it, if its very likely then they might take you for a proper test to determine whether you do or dont have borderline PD.

BUT dont go straight to a therapist, go to your GP first, if they screen you and formally test you for Borderline PD and you come back positive THEN THEY will refer you to a therapist, otherwise you may have to pay for one privately and dont expect it to be cheap

hope everything turns out ok for you x
