Got a game-Sound problem question. Need someone who knows computers very well (no sound) read?

Question

I am installing Windows 8 32 bit, in order to see if i can get some games that wont work on 64 bit to play again.

One is "Tom Clancy's SSN" one of the first major graphics games (for its time).

Everything is fine with it except 2 things. Graphics i have to set to Low or the sub wont show up, which is no big deal.

And Sound.

Now here's the deal

For some reason my great sound card or maybe newer computers have a problem with this game. It kept crashing while loading and a forum said: disable all sound.

Well i hate having to disable sound each time i want to play it. and id love to be able to have sound.

So, my question is simple:

How can i get my old game and my sound to work together correctly?

there used to be a setting where you had to set enviroment varibles in the config.sys 

something along the lines of blaster=220 ( the port number) and some other info...
this would allow a non soundblaster name brand card to work. 

better. i'd go with virtualbox ( to install an older operating system) and run it on whatever os it was made for.

If it's a card, then brush the orange parts with a wet cloth, and dry it later on. Scrub it with your nails (VERY VERY GENTLY). Cover the sound card with toilet paper, push gently, and then put it in again. This time it should work.

If you brush use rubber tool for deleting pen(don't now name:), but it won't help to mush if it's software problem(and probably is) Only cure from what you sad(didn't say card brand) is to update drivers if is there, and try to turn advanced audio options ingame if is there
