How good is this desktop?

Dell Customizable XPS 8500 - $1,279.99

OS: Windows 8, 64-bit (I'll probably downgrade to Windows 7)

MEMORY(RAM): 24GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz – 3 DIMMS

VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 640 1GB GDDR5

PROCESSORS: 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3770 processor (up to 3.90 GHz)

HARD DRIVE: 2TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive 6.0 Gb/s

PSU: 460w

Update:

*Alright so I thought about it and yes I was a bit over zealous on the RAM so I went down to 12, my current desktop is a bit over 4.

*My other option for the GPU was an AMD Radeon HD 7570. Higher up in the AMD ladder but lower in the 7000 series. Games I would be playing (ie: Battlefield 3) recommend NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950 so I'm set.

*I've already been looking at graphics card updates for my desktop so I know about all of that and blah blah blah. This desktop is actually plan B in case if that doesn't work out and in case if the CPU is too low since upgrading that can be a pain in the ***.

Update 2:

Price is now $1,049.99 (I didn't add stuff like a mouse, keyboard or monitor since I already have those and an HDMI cable to use a TV).

RAM: 24Gb is quite an over kill, 12 should be the max you should ever need. but its good anyways\

OS: windows 8, love it, ive had it for quite a while now, i can boot my desktop up in 30 seconds, and my laptop up in 10.

Video card: not very good, i would suggest upgrading to a GTX 660, or atleast in the 600's

    Harddrive: good

PSU (power supply): you may want to get a 500-600watt PSU so that you can add future upgrades to the computer, and i dont think you can run your computer at max load with 460 watts.

    Processor: very good, keep it.

Everything's perfect! 460w is really all you'll need if you won't be upgrading. You may want to upgrade to 600w for future upgrades, but it really only needs like 400w to run at full load.

Good job, nice choices! If you want to do some gaming, upgrade to a GTX 650 Ti or 660, though.

If you're going to be gaming, I would suggest a nVidia GTX 600 series video card. Otherwise, this is a rocketship of a system.

NOTE: UPGRADING A GPU MAY REQUIRE A HIGHER WATTAGE POWER SUPPLY.
