How strong is the French language in New Brunswick?

Only about one third if the Canadian province speaks French as a first language today, is it remaining strong or fading out?

According to VERY RECENT stats released by Statistics Canada it remains strong and if you add to this a CONSTITUTIONAL amendment that says the 2 communities in NB and well as the 2 languages are official and equal. So no French is not fading it is gaining in strengh. Also NB receives very few immigrants and that does not influence the linguistic balance. However to say that it is a love story between the 2 communities is a lie relations between anglos and francos in NB are degraded LIKE EVERYWHERE ELSE in this country. Go to Moncton where 35% of the local population is french speaking and all the signs except govt buildings and street names ARE IN English only. City Hall wanted to introduce measures to encourage the use of the 2 official languages but mad and angrsy anglos stormed city hall and the mayor backed down.

26.8% seems to speak French, and the province is very strong in its traditions.

    French doesn't fade out.

    Hope this helps!
