Do I have any further Military options ?
Hello, my name is Angel, I am 18 years old and I was seeking further knowledge on the chance of obtaining a medical waiver for Military entrance. Back in February of 2012, I had made up my mind to enlist into the U.S. Army on a J.R.O.T.C High School Diploma. My AI directed me to a recruiting station and everything went off on a perfect start. About a month later, I was on my way to MEPS. The night before, my Recruiter gave me the whole run down, any serious medical problems both physical and mental that I have undergone " Never " happened, do not have a heavy breakfast and drink plenty of water the of, etc. The day of, everything went perfectly , passed my vision, hearing, urine, blood, and weight tests. All I needed to do was pass the physical portion and I would have been sworn in that same day. The doctor that was in charge was a very elder woman who had an attitude the entire time I was present. At the beginning of the physical examination, the Doctor inspected all the candidates as were were only wearing underwear and had our arms extended outward. The Doctor notice a scar in my kidney area and she asked what it was from. Me doing as I was instructed, I told her " To the best of my knowledge I do not know " , She then told me to get dressed and wait outside the room. I was told to call my instructor and have him pick me up. Confused I talked to the receptionist outside the Commander's office and she told me that " I need to bring medical records of my entire life " . At this point I knew I was in for it. Two weeks later after being on a wild goose chase with past medical clinics and hospitals I obtained all my records and was ready to go back to MEPS Fort Dixx. When I arrived, I went to the same receptionist, gave her my paperwork and stated my name. She then asked why did I bring my paperwork and I told her what had happened in the physical examination. After that she told me that the reason why I was dismissed was because I was " Un-cooperative ". It had nothing to do with my scar. The receptionist told me that since my medical papers were now present, that they might as well had checked them. Then they told me to go back home and they'll contact my Recruiters and so on. Another week later I was sent back to MEPS to see what was the situation and I was told that I had a surgery ( Kidney anomoly ) when I was an infant and that I never received a follow up visit after my surgery. The purpose of the surgery was to reduce the size of my right kidney because it was slightly and I Emphasize " Slightly ", larger than my left kidney. I asked my mother and she said the reason was that I had no insurance to cover a follow up and it healed on it's own. From my recruiting station , my Recruiter faxed a statement saying why I did not receive a follow up visit and that I had clearance from my physician to enlist. Finally, I received a letter from a Dr. Gorelli stating that due to my " Kidney Anomaly " I have been permanently disqualified from all branches of the U.S. Military and that I can pursue a civilian career to support them instead. I asked my Recruiters to look into having this waived but they all but gave up on me and I have been clueless since then. What I do not understand is why I have been disqualified when this " condition " has not affected me my entire life. I am sure that it would have not affected my present or future training or limit me. I attended a Military Academy which required immense PT and Drill/Ceremony to pass and I graduated at the top of my class. I scored an 80 on my ASVAB first time at it and that could not even prove to help. Over the summer, I found out that an old friend of mine happens to work at the same MEPS that I attended. I spoke to her and she personally spoke to the Commanding Officer at MEPS Fort Dixx , He told me that He could not personally do anything and that my best option is to request to have it waived. Since than, I have been researching on where to go from there and here I am. I spoke to several ROTC instructors at local colleges and I cannot even join to become an officer. I was wondering if a different branch would be willing to try and have this waived and I am desperately seeking actual information of guidance on what options I have left because I know they're very limited. If you have take the time to fully read this and give an answer,I would like to thank you in advance. Good Night / Good Morning.

I'm so sorry you have had to go through all this. You could talk to another branch recruiter and explain the situation and see but they all use the same MEPS stations and if MEPS says no, then that's that. They have the final say.
You MIGHT be able to go a different region but again there is no guarantee.

you should never had listened to your instructor he set you up for failure you should cut all ties to him he knew what he was doing he knew that you arent supposed to lie about your medical past. you are disqualified from all branches now you cant enlist to any branch of the military they have you on a list of people who have been disqualified. and the doctors job is to have an attitude with all the soon to be soldiers they arent supposed to be nice.and you werent disqualified because of your "condition" you were disqualified because you blatantly lied in the doctors face about your kidneys, when you lie about medical history and the military find out they disqualify you its just how it is the military looks down on liars you cant have pride and be trusted if you lie to the same people who youre supposed to be fighting with. look at it from the militarys eyes its basically how can they trust someone who lied before even being sworn in.

If they said "permanently disqualified from all branches of the U.S. Military", then why do you think you can get into another branch? You can PERMANENTLY DQ'd, there is NOTHING you can do. Sorry, but that's the way it is. You may not think it affects you, but it's not your decision, and based on your records, no go.
