Seller asks for positive feedback before refund?

Hi i recently purchased an item on ebay that has not arrived yet. the seller had said he'd give me a refund but not untill i changed the feedback, i bargained with him and the said that he would give me half the payment and after the feedback is changed he will give me the rest. Should i trust him in this? or is there something i should do? Please respond asap!

Update:

No, i did not be nasty to the seller at all. I have communicated with the seller quite a lot. All that i left was a neutral feedback saying did not receive item, that is about it.

EBAY rules are: you get a refund no matter what the feedback is or is not. That is the only option here.

However, what you need to say is that when you get your refund and the issue is settled, you will update the feedback with a positive follow up saying a refund was given and the seller was polite, prompt and reasonable.

If you feel like the seller is not dragging their feet, etc. then there are other channels in ebay that you can access to resolve this issue.

I would not deal with this seller again if they are going to play games like that, holding someone's refund as hostage re:ratings and feedback is not okay, especially a neutral one like, "I did not receive the item".

But to be fair, in the future, contact the seller via email about the item before posting the feedback online. You don't want them to see that for the first time on feedback instead of customer communication! It gives them a chance to investigate and resolve the issue in a timely manner before the problem becomes "public".

There is an online chat with e bay help if you click on help on ebay website

Ebay sellers should retain proof of postage so that they can claim the loss with the post or corrier service they used. It's not up to the buyer to chase up why the package hasnt arrived.

When I sell on ebay if someone said it hasnt arrived, I expect them to contact me to reach agreement before leaving negative feedback and I would refund them and chase it up with the post office.

Did you leave a nasty comment then ask for a refund? If you left a negative feedback before discussing it with the seller then I would accept the sellers suggestion. You should always try to solve it ammicably with the seller rather than leave a nasty feedback.u only do that if you contacted the seller and the seller is being rude

Stop dealing with the seller, you won't get a full refund. Instead, file a dispute on Ebay. Use the "Item not received". Ebay will rule in your favor and they will refund your money, and charge it back to the seller.

Ebay has a Buyer Protection Plan, just use it.

I'd leave a poor feedback that mentioned. "item was junk, vendor promised refund if I left optimistic feedback." Then document vendor to eBay authorities and proceed to work closer to getting your refund. This seller is a criminal.

open an "item not received" case, and ebay will make sure you get your refund.

ask him if removing the feedback completely would be okay. if you don't want to put positive feedback then don't put any at all maybe he will be happy enough with that.
