Date and time on my laptop (dell Inspiron 9300) has to be adjusted each time I start it?

Wonder what could be the reason and how can I fix the issue ??

The date and time is set to 2005 Sep 18, 0010 am. Each time I set the date and time , I press the apply button and then Ok button but it date and time remain set as soon as the computer is on and if I re-start it then I have to set them again, otherwise many sites do not open stating expired certificate.

It needs a new CMOS battery - check the manual on the computer or online at Dell.com's Technical Support page for instructions & what battery you need.

You can either let it scan your laptop to get the Service Tag or enter your make & model number to get to the page with links to driver updates, user manuals, or service instructions.

Source(s): Been there, done that - turned out my friend's computer had worse problems than needing JUST a new CMOS battery.

I had the same problem with my computer. There should be a little checkbox on the date and time screen about automatically updating or something. Uncheck that box and whatever time you set it to should hopefully be the actual time. Worked for me, hope it works for you!
