Survey: If the Atheists are so positive that they are right....?
then why do they continue to ask questions about Religions?
are they still questioning their (non) belief?
still 'on the fence'?
just seeking additional proof/confirmation?
don't they already think they have all the answers?
... just wondering
by the way, I didn't say what religion (if any) that I am. And I RARELY visit this category at all ( because I don't have any questions that i need answers to) So Im definitely NOT obsessed, LOL
I asked a question here ONCE and that was over 2 years ago. I even emailed a few TC's/TA's here to try to get some answers.. I received no answers from them, btw.
But I see a slew of talk about this category on the suggestion board, so I checked in for a peek.
oh sorry, I just checked and I DID ask 2 questions here 5months ago and the other Q was 3 years ago.
But otherwise, I rarely ever come here.
But Thank you all for your swift responses.
Much more action/answers this time.
:)

I think if a person has taken time to label themselves an atheist (such as me) then they do have an interest in religion to a certain degree- or at least a interest in other people's feelings towards it. There are many people who are atheists but simply aren't interested enough to call themselves on so. I myself am very interested in how and why people believe in God(s) and religion. I see it more from a philosophical stand point- it interests me why some people/humanity seeks assurance that they will live after death etc.

Q: then why do they continue to ask questions about Religions?
A: Curiosity, to get into a fight, homework assignments - you name it.
Q: are they still questioning their (non) belief? still 'on the fence'? just seeking additional proof/confirmation?
A: Yes, those and more.
Q: don't they already think they have all the answers?
A: A few might, but most don't believe they have all the answers; they are more concerned with the QUESTIONS. I'm not counting pretend atheists who troll for sport.

No, most of us are not positive there are no gods - there could be but there is no evidence yet. No, we do not think we have all the answers - most western atheists are fully aware of how little we do know about our universe and life. Yes, many of us continue to seek evidence of gods - if there is any, we want to know so our worldview accords with the evidence. How else can we justify our position? Absolute belief and certainty about your position combined with a refusal to look at evidence which contradicts it is very much a theistic thing.
Another reason we are interested in religion (apart from it being interesting historically, anthropologically and socially) is that it affects our society so badly. In the West the biggest social problem is Christianity and in the East its Islam. We are all affected by this and so active atheists try to combat it by reasoning with theists.

Good question , they have a right to have a opinion God will let anyone search out any religion ,
they do not have the right to force there opinion on anyone .
Any Religion that does that comes to you door like mormon Jehovah witness and so on is wrong they have a partial bible and then there man made up parts that trap you like the one tom cruse is captain of john Travolta very controlling cults God will let anyone of freewill believe what they want but only one will get you in Heaven that's not a rumor it is fact ! believe in a Good Bible based Church and Jesus the Son Of GOD and you will be fine seek and you shall find all other's are cults .... God says he will not have strange gods before me !! so that means there are other religions (CULTS)and millions of people that will burn don't be a sheep go the Jesus Way

I do not ask questions - I answer them. That's why I'm not a Top Contributor and I don't want to be. I come here to know what you people are doing and saying so that I can fight back against you when the need arises.

then why do they continue to ask questions about Religions? Most of the questions they ask on here are satire, because they know theists can't provide credible answers.
are they still questioning their (non) belief? No.
still 'on the fence'? No.
just seeking additional proof/confirmation? Sure, you could call it that.
don't they already think they have all the answers? Nobody thinks they have "all the answers." Atheists just know that "God" isn't one of them.

People like me are genuinely curious, to be perfectly honest. I don't begrudge you your beliefs, I just don't share them. I was raised in a home with religion, and most of my family is believers still. I tried, and just couldn't figure out any way to genuinely believe in any of it. So, I am curious as to how others can. I don't get it. Therein lies my fascination with the whole thing.
I speak for nobody but myself here. I'm nobody's spokesman, I'm just giving you my own honest answer.
I'm not sorry I don't believe, BTW.

To troll religious people.
We don't claim to have all the answers. We don't know what happened before the Big Bang or what caused it, but we KNOW that Science and evolution are facts. Not some fairy tales written down 2,00 years ago by middle eastern goat farmers.
We just don't think that the universe, or we, have a creator.

I've always thought that they were trying to convert people to their religion of atheism.

Religion has a tendency to affect our lives whether we want it to or not.
Simply not believing in something doesn't make the fan club vanish. If Christians kept their beliefs to themselves and didn't try to push their doctrine in schools and government policy, atheists wouldn't care in the slightest.
