I have code p0340 for a Mitsubishi Galant 2002?
I believe it is either the camshaft or crankshaft sensor. I'm not sure which or where they are located on the vehicle if anyone can help. Additional information would also be helpful. Thank you.

p0340 should be cam position sensor and is generally located on the cylinder head. Crank sensor would likely be a p0335/p0336. There's 3 different engines listed for your year/make/model.
Once you locate it, check the wiring. Colder times of the year tend to experience more animals using the warmth of a recently shut down engine to stay warm, some are very prone to gnawing on wires. Such a repair would tend to be relatively simple.
If replacing yourself, use caution removing the old sensor. Small screws/bolts that are exposed to the elements can easily strip/shear off and is a nightmare to rectify.
