After how much time of transplantation do date palm trees adopt to the new environment and place ?
I transplanted two date palm trees 8 feet tall each 18 months ago (in July 2010 mid summer) but as yet new leaves have not emerged, on the contrary one tree has even lost all leaves. I live in Karachi Pakistan which has mild cold weather. I have been applying fertilizer and water regularly. Please tell me when can i expect new leaves to emerge ??

Bend several of the small branches. If they snap and break, it's dead. If it returns to it's normal position, it's still OK. You can also knock on the wood with your knuckle and tell the difference between live and dead wood. If new growth doesn't appear this growing season, they're probably dead.
