What sights should i see while i'm in Venice in September?

this is our second week of travel and the last stop on our trip.

Update:

We are looking at traveling to Italy either Sept 7-14 or the 21-28. We want to see as much as we can of Venice, Milan and Florence areas while we are there, but not wanting to rush to fast.

When exactly will you be here in September? The Historical Regatta will be running on the 1st Sunday of the month and that's always worth seeing - especially the boat parade that precedes the races. The biennale will be running then as well - it's essentially a World's Fair of art. The main exhibition areas are in the Giardino and the Arsenale areas, but there are installations all over the city.

In addition, the usual tourist attractions will be available. What you should see depends on your interests, but the Doge's Palace tour is good. You'll definitely want to see the Bridge of Sighs. Do go inside St Mark's; if you go up the stairs on your right as you enter, you can go out on the balcony overlooking Piazza San Marco. You'll also get a good look at the bronze horses from there and there's a nice small museum. Then you can go back down and see the interior of the church. The Correr Museum is nice as is the Accademia. Just walking the canals and bridges exploring the city and enjoying the art and architecture is good. You might be interested in taking the vaporetto to some of the outer islands like Murano and Burano. Do at least take one vaporetto ride down the length of the Grand Canal.

Be sure to take The Doge's Palace Secret Itineraries tour

It takes you to the most interesting parts of the palace that are only accessible on this tour.
