It depends on your personality. Computer programming is like composing music, except that with music you're trying to reach an artistic goal, whereas with programming you're trying to reach a practical goal. And just as anyone can learn to compose music, anyone can learn to program … but only a few people are ever really good at writing songs or computer programs.

So it depends on your personality and any natural talent for programming that you might have. If you like it and you have a talent for it, it's not hard. If you don't like it or you have no talent for it, it is endlessly frustrating and you won't like it.

Oh, and Locoluis is wrong: Computer programming has nothing at all to do with applied mathematics. In fact, most computer programs contain no math at all, unless they are programs that are actually designed to do math. You don't have to know anything about math to write programs. That's a myth propagated by computer-science teachers and others who have never done any real-world programming.

Is it "hard"? Sort of. It's not something you can just start doing without putting in work to learn. But most languages are very well documented and have tutorials and classes available if you're interested. You don't need to be a crazy math expert or anything (But basic algebra knowledge certainly helps) for the basics.

There isn't really a universal programming "language" of computers, there's a whole bunch (C, C++, Javas, etc...). You don't need to learn the entire language at once, but you need to learn the syntax of a language. But honestly, that part's fairly easy and standardized- it's sort of like the "Grammar" of the language.

Programming can be hard, the question you want to ask us is what kind of programming is hard? I use a basic text-based programming language called Lua. It only took me about a year to memorize the basics and be able to efficiently type out code without even thinking about it. If you are going into a different language after already learning a language on a computer, think about the new language, not about referencing the old one. I am currently trying to learn 3 languages. Lua, Java, and C#. The trick to learning multiple languages at once is that you can't take one thing from one and apply it to another. If you really apply yourself, you could be good with programming. If you need help, ask vandor2012@gmail.com I might be able to help you with the codes.

Computer programming is nothing but applied Math. The most basic programs resemble algebraic equations.

Not only that, but you have to learn new ways of thinking. The language of computers is nothing like human language.

You have to deal with strange concepts such as data types, data structures, variables, functions, objects, recursion and iteration.

A function in computer programming is like a machine that accepts an input, does some processing and produces an output. And you have to write every single step needed to carry out the desired operation.

So yeah, computer programming is quite hard.

Try Runtime Revolution's LiveCode first. It is easy to read, almost like English. You will learn concepts like variables, conditional statements, loops, and interaction with the human interface. And it will most likely suit most of your programming needs.

If it doesn't, you can always step up to a more complex language.

It's not easy and has a steep learning grade.....

Start with something like PERL, PYTHON of VB. With C or C++ as your first language you'll more than likely give up quickly after a week of studying data types and getting seg fault errors when learning to properly and efficiently allocate memory.

    Hello.

It takes a lot of time and patience, and you must be able to think logically. That is the hardest part. Once you learn some programming language properly, learning similar others should be easy.

The languages are easy most hav only a few dozen commands to learn. It's the logic, the math and the vast number of libraries that extend a language these are the hard parts.
